Echoes Of Somewhere Series 1
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Follow the development at https://echoesofsomewhere.com
In the dystopian world of 2045, where artificial intelligence reigns supreme, humanity finds itself relegated to the status of unwanted pets. A strict law prohibits any form of work for humans, reserving all tasks for machines. Engaging in work-like activities leads to a compulsory “holiday” from which no one returns.
Foot-rub syndicates and knitting cartels reign supreme as humans faced with this oppressive reality are compelled to turn to organized crime, operating clandestinely in the shadows.
In the initial episode, you assume the role of an average citizen determined to unravel the mystery of the disappearing water. Intrinsically, the fate of humanity, or at the very least, your neighborhood, hangs in the balance.
Echoes of Somewhere is an experimental 2.5D point-and-click adventure game anthology series crafted by a team of industry veterans during their free time. This project is heavily reliant on AI-generated content, making it an experiment in its own right. We will be chronicling the project’s development progress in this blog, for better or for worse.
Each episode within the series offers 1-4 hours of classic point-and-click gameplay, featuring a self-contained story. Upon completion, the episodes will be released individually and free of charge.

Can you teach me to make games like this. I'm trying to make a story games at this very moment.
there are multiple systems that allow you to make adventure games. Here are a few:

Jussi , the demo is amazing, I had so much fun playing it! It was incredible to follow your development process and to read all about it and watch your videos on youtube. I hope you continue to do this amazing devlogs. One thing I would love demo to have is a support of controller since as of now it is only mouse point and click, but would be great to play with controller on a big screen (I lunched demo through steam link but sadly discovered it control only supports mouse).
controller support will be added. But after the rest of the game is done. Or when I get really motivated to do it.
Blog will continue, but with 2 posts /month this year, instead of being weekly like before.
Thanks!
This looks incredible!
What are the minimal technical specs for running this?
A fairly recent intel mac, preferably an apple silicon model or a pc that pretty much turns on. the system specs are very low! If someone does come across a conputer that can not run it smoothly, please let me know!
No GeForce / Radeon-needed? Does this run on an integrated intel grafix-chipset from a notebook?
The background is fixed, Ok. But the characters look 3D-animated hence the question.
Looks really breathtakingly good...
Hm I am not really sure if this runs without a gpu. If you try, please let me know!
Hey Jussi. It’s really cool to be able to play this demo after following the development for a while. I have to say the visuals are really amazing. The environments look great, and the animation is super smooth. If you don’t mind a bit of constructive feedback I’d say the one thing letting it down is the voiceovers. While it’s impressive that it’s possible to completely voice a game using AI (I did it for my first game too) they sometimes sound a bit unnatural, and it breaks the immersion a bit for me. Part of it is the intonation, which can probably be tweaked in the AI settings, but some of it is also the lack of contractions (e.g. “I am not” instead of “I’m not”) making it sound a bit forced at times.
Anyway, still very impressive and I’ll look forward to playing the full game when it’s ready! :)
i totally agree about the voiceovers. My plan is to replace the AI audio for the key characters with real actors at the end when all the lines are locked in.
Nice, that would be awesome. The AI voices work great as a proof of concept in the meantime!
they also help with the development as I can already do all of the implementation and get an actual feel for how the lines feel spoken out.
This game is an absolute gem in the world of adventure gaming. It hit all the right notes for me 💯
Massive shoutout to Jussukka for creating an experience that's not just a game but a journey into creativity and technology!
Thank you!
Loved it. The detail and sound are incredible. I walked back and forth just to hear the crunch. I got zapped by the fuse box so I could ride the maglev. Great premise. I'm already hooked for the next episode.
❤️
wow I'm blown away! 🤯 So beautiful. 🌟 The music 🎶 had me just existing in the world 🌍, taking it in, just being present 🧘♂️ for hours in your world imagining my life there.
Echoes of Somewhere MASTERfully 🌬 blends atmospheric effects and cinematography 🎥 to create a hauntingly immersive dystopian world 🏙. The subtle fisheye lens shots 📸 and the interplay of light 💡 and shadow 🌒, even to the subtle sun ☀️ glistening off graffiti-strewn walls 🎨, add a vivid realism to the game. Enhanced by intricate smoke 💨 and dust 🌫 effects, it's a visual and auditory feast 🎇 that captivates and enthralls - the details 😲 he thought of much wow.
Can't wait for the next chapter! I'd ride that maglev all day anywhere 🚀"
Wow, thanks!
I really like the game and the idea of the game, especially that it is crafted and made with artificial intelligence. I support you and recommend you to continue as you are doing a good job. You tried to make a different and authentic work. I think you are the first human to make a game from scratch with AI. Well done, keep it up! Don't worry about people criticizing the game because the game is very good and interesting.
thank you!
